Enforcement of Safety Rules - A Sample Policy
Safety at our company is a critical area involving many topics. In general, enforcement beyond Level 1 will not be necessary. However, should the need arise, the following provisions will apply.
A combination of six Level 1 enforcements or three Level 2 enforcements subjects the involved individual to the maximum of Level 2 or to Level 3 enforcement.

- Level 1: A memo describing the safety violation to the involved individual. Copies sent to supervisors, Personnel Services and the Safety Office. Documentation of training follow-up by the supervisor. No disciplinary action required.
- Level 2: Involves repeat violations where Level 1 enforcement has been used. Procedures are the same as Level 1 with the addition of a minimum of 4 hours suspension without pay to a maximum of 10 working days.
- Level 3: An immediate termination notice to the involved individual. Reserved for instances where employee neglect results in the loss of life or limb of others, substantial physical or dollar loss to the company or where occupants of a building were knowingly placed in jeopardy by violating the codes of regulatory agencies or the policies of our company.
